Emergency services tackle Little Island acid spill and fire

Emergency services in Cork are currently dealing with an acid spill and a fire in Little Island.

Emergency services were called shortly after 5.30pm this evening to respond to a nitric acid incident and fire at Courtown Industrial Estate in Little Island.

Nitric acid (HNO3) is a highly corrosive mineral acid.

Ten units of the fire brigade are currently at the scene including four from Cork city, three from Midleton, two from Cobh and one from Bandon.

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.
