YOU can get into the frame on Saturday, February 2 and capture a unique moment in time, while also supporting Ballymacoda girl, Ella Dempsey, who is fighting cancer.

Ella, aged eight, is undergoing treatment at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, for Ewings Sarcoma, a cancerous tumour on her hip.

Ann-Marie Collins, of AMC Photography, is inviting individuals and families to come to her magnificent glass-fronted studio on February 2, in Ballymacoda over-looking Ballycotton Bay, to have their photograph taken professionally, costing €30.

All proceeds will go to help Ella on her journey.

Ann-Marie, who had a keen interest in photography from an early age, is known as the ’baby whisperer’, capturing unique images of new-born babies and tiny tots.

Talking about her upcoming fundraiser, Anne-Marie said: “Ella is a very brave and she is an amazing little girl.”

Ann-Marie is mum to Ellie and, Aria, nine.

“She is a brave little warrior, who always has a smile on her face,” she said.

Ella is a neighbour and a friend.

“My daughter, Ellie, and Ella, who are both in third class, are good friends at school, Kilcredan National School.” Ann-Marie adds.

“They’ve enjoyed lots of play-dates together and the girls made their First Holy Communion together. Us Mums, myself and Amy, with connections through school, got to know each other too. Aria and Ella’s older brother are in the same class at school. When Ella needed help, I got on board.”

Kilcredan NS held a non-uniform day for Ella and the local football club organised a fund-raiser for her.

Ann-Marie, is creating the unique opportunity to capture a snap-shot of a precious moment in time forever, as well as creating the opportunity to support Ella.

“People can have more than one person in the photograph for the same price, €30,” says Ann-Marie.

Everyone can get into the picture and have fun.

“Perhaps a family would like two or more siblings in their photograph; then that’s fine too.

“The image will be printed on an A4 size page and mounted. For €50, you can have two photographs of your choice taken which will be printed and mounted.”

People are generous.

“If people want to donate more than to €30 to go towards supporting Ella, I’d be delighted,” says Ann-Marie.

“The whole community is behind Ella and this is my gesture to help the little girl.”

Everyone is rowing in from near and far to make sure the photography event is a snap-happy day.

“I’m expecting a high volume of people through the door on February 2,” says Ann-Marie.

“A lot of my regular customers are coming along to the event to get their photograph taken, and so are a lot of new people too. The more the merrier!

“If people can’t make it and would like to donate; they can do so on the gofundmepage.

“I know a lot of people around the country and abroad who are keen to support Ella but won’t make it on the day.”

Ann-Marie has able assistants.

“My friend, Karen is a great organiser,” says Ann-Marie.

“She’ll be welcoming everybody. The girls, Ellie, and Aria, are very keen to help out!”

Ann-Marie, who is a member of East Cork Camera Club, with loads of experience, snapping both young and old in her studio as well at outside venues, says each photography session won’t take long.

“With newborns or tots; the session can take much longer, making baby comfortable, arranging props, etc,” says Ann-Marie.

“The idea is to photograph as many people as possible, so the session will be quick, with no waiting around. Every single penny raised will go to Ella’s family.”

The Dempseys know that everyone is rooting for Ella.

“Ann-Marie is a wonderful lady and a brilliant friend,” says Amy.

“Our beautiful sporty daughter, Ella, has had to learn how strong she is too soon, like many faced with cancer. But she is fierce in the face of it. And although it is a long, hard road, she does it with a brave heart and a smile. Her big brothers, Josh and Sean, are fantastic and keep her giggling.

“Tony and I would love to take this opportunity, although no words could truly express the thank-you we want to send out to our family, friends and community. The journey we are on with our beautiful daughter, Ella, seems impossible at times and without the amazing support that we have, we just would not be able for this nightmare.

“St John’s ward, Crumlin, and the Mercy Hospital in Cork, are a wonderful team of people, their expertise and care for Ella is second to none, making her journey a little less scary and a little more fun. They really are incredible people. Thank-you from our family to yours.”
