The Republic of Ireland women will start their World Cup qualifying campaign at home to France, it has been announced.

Carla Ward's side will host France on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Ireland earned promotion to the top tier of the Nations League last month when they got past Belgium in a two-legged promotion/relegation play-off.

The tough start to the campaign continues when Ireland travels to the Netherlands on March 7th.

A double header against Poland awaits the girls in green in April, starting with an away game on Tuesday, 14 April, before hosting Poland four days later.

Ireland hosts the Netherlands on Friday, June 5th, before travelling to France in the final group game on June 9th.

The FAI have said negotiations are still taking place on match venues and kick-off times, but it seems likely at least one of the games will take place at Aviva Stadium, with a return to Páirc Uí Caoimh also highly possible.

A third-place finish in the group would give Ireland a kinder play-off game than fourth.
