Latest: Irish Water lifts all 'boil water' notices, but 2,450 still without supply

Update - 3.48pm: Irish Water says 2,450 customers remain without a water supply.

More than 30,000 have a restricted supply, but all "boil water" notices due to Storm Emma have been lifted.

One "Do Not Drink" notice remains in place in Fethard, Co. Tipperary, affecting 12,000 customers but this is expected to be resolved on Monday.

The utility also says there will be restrictions in fewer parts of Dublin from 8pm to 6am.

10.52am: Irish Water aware people in 'real hardship' since Storm Emma

Irish Water says it is aware that people are struggling without access to sufficient water supplies in the aftermath of Storm Emma.

There have been water restrictions in the Greater Dublin area since the Beast from the East brought the country to a virtual shut-down, leaving many people still cut off from access to water during the night.

The rationing has been implemented due to a combination of leaks and a surge in demand last week.

The Managing Director of Irish Water, Jerry Grant, said he was "desperately conscious" that people were in "real hardship" without access to water.

He said that, despite supplies being back running in areas, people were still having difficulty with their water supply.

"It emphasises the fact that this is no way to run a distribution system," he said.
