Gardaí looking for black saloon car after boy seriously injured in Tallaght hit-and-run

A teenage boy is in intensive care after a hit-and-run in Tallaght in Dublin.

14-year-old Sean was cycling home just before 9pm last night when he was knocked down on Cheeverstown Road.

He was taken to Crumlin Children's Hospital where he is in a serious condition.

Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for anyone who saw the car which is believed to be a black saloon car, possibly a VW Passat or a Saab.

Witnesses can contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01- 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Sean's dad, John, told 98FM's Dublin Talks that his son received "horrific" injuries, including a broken skull, and fractures in his elbow, leg and ankle.

"I can't understand why somebody would just leave a child like a piece of meat on the road and continue driving," he said.

"Even if the driver was in shock they could have come back, but didn't."

John appealed to the driver to contact gardaí.

"Contact the guards. Let them know."
