270 new jobs announced for Tipperary and Cork

200 jobs are on the way to County Tipperary, while 70 new jobs have been added in Cork.

Pilz, a global automation technology company, is opening the new €7.4m centre on the Model Farm Road in Cork, and the 70 jobs at the software development centre will bring the company's total workforce in Ireland to 220 by 2023.

The new three storey 2,500 sq m facility is located next to the existing Pilz Ireland building and doubles the capacity of the overall Pilz campus in the Cork Business and Technology Park.

In Tipperary, Rockshel Life Sciences confirmed today that it had purchased a plant site in Cashel. Along with the 200 jobs, a €14m investment will include the purchase of the site, as well as renovation and the purchase of new equipment, with upgrades already underway at the 40,000sq ft plant.

Recruitment is already started with 50 positions being created immediately in manufacturing, R&D, technical, analytical, quality and support and a further 150 positions will be filled over the next 24 months.

Rockshel will begin production of nutritional, herbal and health supplements in May this year.

The site was formerly the property of the Sun Pharma Group which closed in 2016 with the loss of more than 100 jobs.

Dr. Azzam Hussein, co-founder and CEO of Rockshel said:

"The project will be on par with multinational players in the area of food supplement speciality and we look forward to expanding our operation to more than 40 countries within three years."
"There is no doubt that Ireland is continuing to flourish with dozens of new businesses opening, but this area is niche, and the Irish market has not yet tapped into its full potential,” he said.
