GP associations have called for urgent action on the funding and development of undergraduate General Practice placements to help address the ongoing GP workforce crisis

The research was led by scientists from the University of Galway.

The study, titled Supporting Medical Students Towards Future Careers in General Practice: A Quantitative Study of Irish Medical Schools, shows that in Ireland there is a significant, and increasing, shortage of general practitioners.
