F1 bosses have reached a new agreement with the Zandvoort track which extends their existing deal for a further two years

The seven-time world champion had been in contention for his first win of the season but missed out on a podium finish.

Hamilton was second when Valtteri Bottas broke down in his Alfa Romeo with 15 laps remaining in Zandvoort.

The world champion will start Sunday’s race in Zandvoort at the front of the grid.

Alonso, 41, called Hamilton an “idiot” and said the Briton can only race from the front following a first-lap collision at Spa-Francorchamps.

Alonso collided with Hamilton on the opening lap of the Belgian Grand Prix last Sunday.
