Trees Please Cork are a voluntary group that are dedicated to planting as many native Irish trees as they can.

A council spokesperson said that works, described as “minor” may commence today, weather permitting. 

Cork Sports Partnership is working hard on having the new event kick off this September.

In recent months, the popular park now has a new pedestrian entrance.

The toilets were due to be installed before Christmas, but have been delayed due to supply chain issues.

The development would contravene materially the objective of the existing Cork City development plan as the site is zoned as public open space.

The event will run from 10am-1pm, with DJ Stevie G acting as MC.

The park rangers are encouraging park users to bring reusable bottles when visiting the amenity and refill their bottles, as they need, from the fountain.

The toilet is located by the allotment entrance to the park where the Saturday morning park run starts and finishes.

"It was a long journey to get through the consultation, but it was important to spend the time in gauging and responding to different local perspectives."
