''I started back in 2008. I left my job just before the big recession, and my partner and I went to London, and I started a course over there in violin making and repair.

“I like taking my time exploring my own creativity and enjoying the process.”

A SYRIAN citizen who now lives in Cork and runs her own business is donating a percentage of her profits to charity to thank the Irish people for the welcome and support her family has received.

"There were times when I was over home with my partner, Máiréad. I was fed up. She said 'You aren't you, just go to the factory and pick up a bit of glass and start cutting glass again'.

"All the wood I use is local timber and trees that fall in storms because they have reached the end of their life."
