Clonakilty, Ballincollig, Youghal and Cobh have won Gold Medals at the national Tidy Towns Awards. Cork also had several Silver Medal winners including Coolagown, Rosscarbery, Bantry, Kinsale, Skibbereen and Carrigaline.

MORE than 800 glass bottles, plastic bottles and aluminium cans were collected by Tidy Towns volunteers in Carrigaline in a two-week period. Volunteers identified the constant dumping of bottles and cans as a serious problem.
