SIX Cork players are named in the 26-strong Ireland Schools squad for a four-nations event in Wales, starting Saturday.

There are three players from PBC, winners of the Munster Schools Senior Cup, hooker Billy Scannell, younger brother of Niall and Rory, centre Sean French and full-back Jonathan Wren.

CBC have two representatives, prop Luke Masters and second-row Cian Hurley, while Bantry’s Josh Wycherley (Cistercian College Roscrea), brother of Ireland U20 Fineen, also makes head coach Noel McNamara’s selection. Leinster dominate the squad with 13 players.

Munster have nine, including Ben Healy, out-half on the Glenstal Abbey side, which lost to Pres in the final, when French accounted for all side’s points in an 11-3 triumph. Ireland began the competition against Italy in Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, kick-off, 5.15pm.

Then it’s on to Llanelli to play England next Wednesday, again with a 5.15pm start, before Ireland complete their schedule against the Welsh in Caerphilly on Saturday week, 4.15pm kick-off.
