IRELAND’S loss will be Munster’s gain when they line out with Simon Zebo at full back against Zebre next Saturday evening at Thomond Park, 7.35pm.
Coach Johann van Graan confirmed the Corkman would be available and is delighted to have a player with his experience in with his young backline for the weekend game.
“Zeebs is available,” said van Graan.
“We’ve just had a lot of one-on-ones with the players individually over the last few hours and we just had a look at his performance against Castres.
"You know he started off so well with all those high bombs and caught every single one of them. I thought his defence was very good obviously his broken field play…
"He’s done so well with the other back three players Earlsy (Keith Earls) and (Andrew) Conway and Woots (Alex Wooton), so great to have him. And if you look at our current backs there’s a lot of young guys so it will be great to have his leadership around.”
The coach also confirmed that Gerbrandt Groebler is available for the weekend if he is required.
There is plenty of positive news on Munster injuries ahead of their PRO14 clash with Zebre as well.
Van Graan will have a strong side to pick from including full-back Simon Zebo who is not at Ireland camp for the first time in five seasons.
“Dave Kilcoyne has recovered quite well from his knock and he might be available for selection this weekend. James Cronin is back with us, very happy with all our locks and loose forwards and nothing new to report there.
“Tyler Bleyendaal is back in training, he’s taking limited contact. We hope to see him sometime in the next four weeks. Dave O’Callaghan came through his club game very, very well. Dan Goggin’s come through his games very well.
“Andrew Conway is back from national camp and is rehabbing his knee for the next few weeks here at the HPC so we’ve got a good squad to select from.”
