The Rebels clean up at the camogie All-Stars

THE Rebels were the toast of the Liberty Insurance Camogie All-Stars on Saturday night, with Cork picking up eight senior awards and four at intermediate level, while Rena Buckley was picked as the Player of the Year and Paudie Murray as the Manager of the Year.

Leeside legend Gemma O'Connor collected a remarkable 10th All-Star at City West, with goalkeeper Aoife Murray, Buckley, Laura Treacy, and Eimear O’Sullivan also selected in defence. Ashling Thompson was selected in midfield while in the forwards Katrina Mackey and Orla Cotter were picked.

Murray was named as Manager of the Year for the second time after guiding the Rebels to a record 27th All-Ireland title, with Buckley receiving the Camogie Association/WGPA Senior Players’ Player of the Year award.

Intermediate runners-up Cork are represented by four players; Sarah Harrington at corner-back and captain Niamh Ní Chaoimh at number four, Sarah Buckley at centre-back and Keeva McCarthy at centre-forward.

Speaking at the event Camogie Association President Catherine Neary said: "I am delighted that the inaugural Liberty Insurance Camogie All-Stars Tour will take place later this month. The All-Stars Tour provides further evidence of the esteem in which our players are held not only within the Camogie community but also within the wider national sporting context. I wish to acknowledge our partners Liberty Insurance for their continued support of our game and our players.”

Goalkeeper: Aoife Murray – seventh All-Star. 

Right corner-back: Rena Buckley – fifth.

Left corner-back: Laura Treacy – first.

Right half-back: Gemma O’Connor – 10th. 

Left half-back: Eimear O’Sullivan – second. 

Midfield: Ashling Thompson – second. 

Right half-forward: Katrina Mackey – fourth.

Left half-forward: Orla Cotter – fifth.
