CORK’S quarter-final representatives in the Clayton Hotels sponsored Munster Schools Senior Cup avoided the banana skin of an away tie.

Holders, PBC, CBC and Bandon Grammar School, who all won their first-round games, are rewarded with home ties next month.

Glenstal Abbey, who defeated Rockwell College 10-8, drew the short straw and must travel to play Bandon.

Holders Pres, who overcame Glenstal in last year’s final, face Ardscoil Ris, who lost to Christians 34-7 in round 1. Christians face St Clement’s.

The remaining quarter-final is between Crescent College Comprehensive, one of the fancied sides, and Rockwell, who booked their place in the last eight by defeating Castletroy College 15-7 in the play-off, yesterday.

Both Pres, who defeated Castletroy in round 1, and Christians will be strong favourites into their games while a young Bandon side will relish the challenge posed by last season’s losing finalists.
