SEANIE MAGUIRE is confident his best days as a striker with Preston are still to come.
The Republic Of Ireland international and former Cork City goalscoring machine has signed a new three-year contract and has committed his future to the English Championship club until the summer of 2021.
“Preston fans last season only saw a glimpse of what I am capable of doing,” stated Maguire.
“I have come on leaps and bounds since I started my first campaign last August and I want to continue improving and there is no better club to do that with than Preston.
“I feel that next year is a massive year for me and one where I want to achieve big things with the club and the ambition of the club itself, of where it is going, is something I am looking forward to being a part of.
“I see that in pre-season we play Burnley, who I scored my first Preston goal against last year, and I will be hoping to start pre-season like I did last year with Preston, which is scoring goals.
“I haven’t had a break in about 18 months and now, coming back at the end June, I am going to be fresh physically and mentally.
“That will stand me in good stead for my first pre-season for about four years in England and it is one I am really looking forward to.”
Cork City fans will know all too well the scoring threat which Maguire will hope to unleash on the English Championship again next term.
During his time with The Rebel Army, Maguire scored 38 goals in 51 Premier Division games.
Maguire will be joined by Shamrock Rovers striker Graham Burke, who is set for a €300,000 move, having made his Ireland debut and scored.
