Cork fighters land international medals

TWO brilliant young Cork athletes were among the medals this week.

Togher Boxing Club’s Leanne Murphy got a warm welcome yesterday when she arrived home with bronze medal from the Junior European Boxing Championships. The native of Gregg Road is one of boxing’s rising stars and proved that in Russia.

At the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Cloghroe’s Sean McCarthy-Crean also grabbed a bronze, in the Men’s Kumite +68kg category.

Along with his twin brother Chris, he is passionate about a sport which is growing in global popularity.
