ARTICULUM ran a cracker to finish third at 25/1 for Carrigtwohill trainer Terrence O’Brien on the opening day at Cheltenham.

Heavy rain had played to his strengths much to the delight of his trainer.

“We’re all thrilled with that and he has run a cracker to finish third," O'Brien said.

"He made a mistake at the water jump which was the only mistake really.

“It’s our first ever runner at the Cheltenham Festival. We got the ferry over from Cork on Saturday evening so the whole experience is a novelty really.

"Articulum has been working very well so I was confident of a big run. We’ve got the hang of it now so we might have to come back again next year.”
