Leeside basketball stars will be on European duty for Ireland this summer

SEVEN Cork basketball stars will be travelling all over Europe this summer with four different Irish teams.

All seven will be in action over the coming weeks and months as their respective sides continue their preparations for the upcoming European Championships.

Glanmire’s Annaliese Murphy and Louise Scannell will be joined on the Women’s U20 team for the FIBA European Championship Division B tournament in Kosovo by Brunell’s Amy Murphy in August.

Katie Walshe from Brunell and Mia Furlong from Glanmire will be part of the Ireland U18 women’s team that are heading to Skopje in July for the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship Division B tournament.

Blue Demons’ David Lehane will be part of the Ireland U18 men’s team that is coached by Neptune’s Paul Kelleher that are preparing for the FIBA U18 Men’s European Championship Division B in Romania in late July.

At U16 level, Michael O'Mahony from Fr Mathew's, will head to Montenegro in August under the guidance of Pat Price, the former Neptune and Demons head honcho.
