Cork v Clare player ratings

ANTHONY NASH: Nearly stopped Tony Kelly’s goal before the break, but made a terrific stop from Shane O’Donnell after the break. 6.
SEÁN O’DONOGHUE: Had his hands full with Kelly in the first half, but was influential on the restart carrying possession outfield. 6
EOIN CADOGAN: Hit John Conlon with both barrels early on, but picked up a yellow card in doing so and had to come off. 5
NIALL O’LEARY: Shane O’Donnell put the turbo on for a couple of goal chances but O’Leary cleared his lines well otherwise. 6
ROBERT DOWNEY: Replaced at half-time, did reasonably well in the first half but couldn’t impose himself. 6
MARK ELLIS: Peter Duggan drifted away for 0-3 from play but the centre-back still picked up his share of breaks. 6

MARK COLEMAN: Was left frustrated in shooting a couple of wides and dropping two short, but swept around the backline brilliantly at times in the second half. 8
BILL COOPER: Worked as hard as ever and teed up Horgan for a goal, but miscued two shots. 6
DARRAGH FITZGIBBON: Scored a couple of points and was fouled for a free. His blinding pace and touch caused Clare real problems. 7
DANIEL KEARNEY: Despite a first-half point, Cathal Malone did a fine job minimising his input. 5
SEAMUS HARNEDY: Fouled for three converted frees, scored a great point and had a hand in another 1-1. 6

LUKE MEADE: Ran at the Banner intelligently in the second half and was twice hauled down. 7
ALAN CADOGAN: Cork’s best player, scoring 0-4 from play and earning a free. A danger at all times. 8
PATRICK HORGAN: Plundered 2-1 from play but couldn’t nail all his placed balls in the conditions. 7
AIDAN WALSH: Once again put himself about and almost had an early goal. 5
SUBS: Stephen McDonnell 6, Damien Cahalane 7, Shane Kingston 7, Conor Lehane 6, Declan Dalton 6.
