Munster hockey lands the U18 title for the first time in 15 years
The Munster U18 hockey team celebrate after they won the Inter-provincial series at the weekend, their first win in this competition in 15 years.

DELIGHT for Munster as they won the U18 boys interprovincial hockey title for the first time in more than 15 years over the weekend in Belfast.

They opened with a win over Ulster and followed this on Saturday with a 4-4 draw with Leinster and another win over Ulster.

It all came down to Sunday’s game and a 2-0 win over Leinster secured the title for Munster, with Ben McInerney and Ian Balding getting the all-important goals.

Manager, John Dennis said he was “delighted with the work the squad and all involved had put in not just over the weekend, but over the last number of months.

“It’s great to see the 15-year plus wait for a title end and hopefully, the girls can add to it next weekend in their inter-pros at Garryduff.”
