Douglas roar back to wrestle the Premier 1 Minor Football crown from Ballincollig

The favourites excelled in the second half to come from behind, helped by a goal just before half-time from Aaron Sheehy, and another from David Kelly in the last 10 minutes.

Further points from Dara Dorgan (free), Evan Cooke, Pauric O’Keeffe and Liam O’Connell put them in a commanding position to repeat their 2011 victory over the city side as they marched 1-4 to no score ahead.

Fionn Sheehan fired over a superb effort but that came shortly after Aaron Sheehy coolly took the ball past the keeper and blasted it past the defender on the line to raise a green flag, 1-5 to 1-3 at the break.

Ballincollig quickly regained their composure and notched five of the next seven points to put themselves in a decent position entering the final quarter, 1-10 to 1-7.

They wouldn’t score again though and with the help of the brilliant Alan O’Hare and Adam Cantwell off the bench and a late goal from David Kelly, Douglas finished powerfully to seal the silverware.
