LIVERPOOL greats Ronnie Whelan and Ray Hougthon will be joined by former Manchester United stars Clayton Blackmore and Lee Martin in a fundraiser for the West Cork Schoolboys League U12 Emerging Talent Programme in Clonakilty on Sunday.

The four former Premier League stars are visiting West Cork so as to help raise funds for the WCSL U12 Inter-League squad who will shortly begin their 2019-20’ Subway SFAI Munster Championship campaign.

Ahead of that, the entire squad and their families will visit Barcelona where West Cork’s U12s will play a number of friendlies against Catalan clubs CF Bufala, Molins de Rei FC and APA Poble Sec.

The Sports Complex in Scartagh, Clonakilty, is the venue for tomorrow’s friendly between opposing teams led by Liverpool’s Whelan and Houghton against Manchester United’s Blackmore and Martin (with a 12pm kick-off).

Following that, an Aprés Match event will take place at Mick Finn’s Bar in Clonakilty where all four visiting legends will take part in a question and answer session at 3pm and prior to watching Sunday’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and United.

A special raffle will also take place during the Q&A session tickets for Manchester United and Liverpool home games plus signed memorabilia amongst the prizes.

Whilst Houghton and Whelan are household names in this country, Clayton Blackmore and Lee Martin are equally important names in Manchester United’s history.

Welsh international Blackmore made 186 appearances and scored 19 goals for the Old Trafford club between 1982 and 1994, claiming Premier League, FA Cup and European Cup Winners Cup medals. Lee Martin will always be associated with scoring the winning goal in the 1990 FA Cup final replay against Crystal Palace at Wembley.
