THE draws for the Premier 1 and 2 minor, U16 and U14 hurling and football championships were made during the week.

Minor football champions, Douglas, will start the defence of their title with a tough tie against Ballincollig, and in a twist of fate the same two sides have been drawn against each other in the hurling championship as well.

Glanmire, who won the Premier 2 title last year, start this campaign against Gabriel Rangers, whilst Nemo will have a journey on their hands as they face Beara.

At premier two level the derby clash of Bandon and Valley Rovers is one that will draw the crowds on the day.

In the minor hurling championship champions, Midleton, will start their bid for three in-a-row with a tough tie against Glen Rovers. Another game to catch the eye is the clash of city rivals, Blackrock and St Finbarr’s, with the Barrs backboned by their U16 winning side last year.

At U16 level there is another potential game in store as the Barrs have been paired with another city rival in Glen Rovers with Bride Rovers v Blackrock another to catch the eye.
