Carrigaline Hibs 0

Wilton 8

Wilton easily overcame the challenge of Carrigaline Hibs in the CWSSL U15 Pool C match at Ballea park last Friday evening, scoring six goals without reply in the first half alone.

Played under lights, the visitors showed their intent from the very start, attacking the Carrigaline goal with Kelsey Cooper’s effort cleared away while chances fell to Chole Atkinson and Sophie Atkinson in the opening three minutes. They opened their account in the 4th minute when Jadine Seward found herself inside the area and found the back of the net sliding the ball between the keeper and the near post for the opening score.

Carrigaline found themselves camped in the final third of the pitch as the league and cup champions continued to come forward, their defence holding out as much as they could blocking numerous attempts on goal from Wilton.

However, by the 12th minute Wilton had doubled their score courtesy of Zoë Finnerty who scored from the corner of the area and added a third four minutes later, Coopers’ shot from 18 yards out finding the bottom right hand corner of the Carrigaline net. A fourth gaol followed a minute later when Finnerty ran from midfield straight at the Carrigaline keeper Isabelle Lordan and slotted the ball home.

Wilton were relentless in coming forward, chances falling to Cooper and Chloe Atkinson and added a fifth in the 28th minute when Finnerty met a poor kick out and scored from just inside the area, as Wilton added a sixth right on the stroke of half time from Chloe Atkinson.

The game well and truly won, Wilton started to pass the ball around amongst each other, making Carrigaline chase after the ball, as they slowly but surely worked their way into the Carrigaline area and duly scored another in the 43rd minute from Jadine Seward.

Carrigaline started to come forward and had two good chances in as many minutes from Katie Hurley, both of which were blocked by Wilton keeper Alex Browne, but at the other end Carrigaline keeper Isabelle Lordan was kept busy in keeping out efforts from Chloe Atkinson and Finnerty whose 20 yard free kick was tipped away by Lordan for a corner.

Wilton finished off the game with Chloe Atkinson scoring from close range as the visitors recorded an easy victory over their hosts.
