The highly-rated northsider suffered a blow last summer going into his senior year at UIC when he injured his knee.

The 21-year-old Irish international showed his resolve by returning to action with his team in Chicago in the early hours of Thursday morning, Irish time, and instantly scored from the bench against Illinois State.

In just 12 minutes of action for the UIC Flames he tallied six points, six rebounds and a steal. Blount's dad Gary is a well-known referee, while his siblings are also steeped in the game.

He left Leeside as a teenager to pursue his hoops dreams and eventually secured a Division 1 college team.

Powerful, aggressive and focused, Blount has proved a big hit in Chicago and has all the tools to make a career as a professional.
