TEAM Ambassador Glanmire are in a rich vein of form right now and kept that going yesterday.

The hosts comfortably beat Pyrobel Killester in an one-sided Women’s Super League game at the Mardyke Arena. Mark Scannell’s charges had a sluggish start to the campaign but are certainly in the groove at the moment, with a great balance to their squad.

Glanmire were simply awesome on both side of the floor to put on a basketball exhibition, but in truth Killester were simply awful in the first half only scoring a total of 17 points which led to their downfall.

In the opening period Glanmire restricted the visitors to a mere nine points, but played some wonderful offensive basketball to lead 26-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Killester couldn’t deal with the homes transition game in the second period, however, credit Glanmire’s defense as they closed down every ball to restrict them to only 17 points.

The remainder of the game turned into a scrimmage as Killester made the scoreline respectable, but Glanmire were convincing winners at the end.

Glanmire started the game playing high tempo defense, however, on the other side of the floor they shot the lights out with Shrita Parker, Aine McKenna and Annaliese Murphy draining three-pointers for fun.

The addition of Portlaoise native Amy Dooley also gives Glanmire that nice bit of size coming off the bench.

She is very effective on both sides of the floor, and her two post moves in final minute of the opening quarter gave her team a 29-9 lead.

Glanmire opened the second period with Parker slashing to the basket to score a beautiful lay-up followed by a long-range effort to give her side a 34-9 lead.

Killester were struggling all over the floor, but the main problem being that they couldn’t make a outside shot in the the period.

Glanmire on the other hand were excellent in transition and led 40-9 after 18 minute of the play with good baskets by Tatum Neubert. Killester eventually made a outside shot when Rebecca Nagle nailed two consecutive three pointers, but Glanmire finished the half with a lovely drive to the basket by Mia Furlong to lead 52-17 at the half.

The tempo of the game dropped considerably for the rest of the game with Glanmire able to use various rotations, but were always in control to win out 96-74.
