Munster v Connacht: Player Ratings

Shane Daly: Showed with a couple of attacks why Johann van Graan rates him so highly.

Lost first Garryowen but recovered perfectly for the next. 8/10 Calvin Nash: Put in a great defensive effort but knocked on a crucial pass from a Daly break in the first half, needs more game time for the Reds. 7/10.

Chris Farrell: Had a huge game at the centre of a busy defence and made some telling carries against a midfield pairing that he will be training with at Ireland camp. 8/10.

Dan Goggin: Partnered well with Farrell and was solid in defence and attack. Made some telling breaks but left the ball slip and almost cost Munster a breakaway try. 7/10

Liam Coombes: Offered plenty of pace out wide for Munster didn’t see as much ball as he would have wanted but carried well when he did get the ball. 8/10

JJ Hanrahan: Was one of a few standout players for Munster. 100% return from the boot, kicked well from hand and put in a huge defensive display. He will need a repeat performance next weekend. 9/10

Craig Casey: Went head to head with a player that is in the Ireland training squad and certainly didn’t give second best to Caolan Blade. His speed to the breakdown and his ability to get his pass away were a huge asset to Munster. 9/10.

Dave Kilcoyne: Other than coughing up one penalty in a scrum, had a super return to action and was prominent in the loose as usual. 8/10.

Kevin O’Byrne: 100% return from his throws and was prominent in the loose. Was a standout forward. Munster have real depth now at number two. 9/10.

Stephen Archer: Was one of the reasons why Munster dominated the forward exchanges before making way for Keynan Knox. 8/10

Jean Kleyn: Gave Munster plenty of power up front. May be available for Leinster clash and will be a big addition if he is. 8/10

Billy Holland: Marshalled the lineout and setpiece well and put his body on the line throughout and was a great second leader on the pitch. 8/10

Gavin Coombes: Had to leave the action early with a head injury. Not on long enough to be rated

Jack O’Donoghue: Put in a huge performance over the 70 minutes he as on and was a contender for man of the match. Got a great try which proved decisive in the end. 9/10

Chris Cloete: Got two great turnovers and was a nuisance in general at the breakdown for. Will be an important player against Leinster. 8/10

CJ Stander: Led by example throughout. Will not feature next weekend and after such a physical contest his body will thank him. 8/10
