CORK soccer star Megan Connolly has been hit with another injury blow.

The talented Leesider returned to action recently for Brighton but has been ruled out of Ireland’s Euro 2021 qualifier against Greece on Thursday.

The midfielder picked up a shoulder knock at training which will sideline her for the coming weeks.

Cork's Denise O'Sullivan, who has 75 caps for her country, and Clare Shine are both involved in Vera Pauw's squad for the clash at Tallaght which is heading for a sell-out and will be screened by RTE.

Connolly's athleticism and drive would have been critical for Ireland this week.

"It’s very unfortunate because I’ve never seen her, even in all the videos, play as well as she’s doing at this moment,” said Ireland manager Pauw.

"We would have built around her so it’s a shame."

The former College Corinthians dynamo turns 23 this week and was Stateside combining sport and education before moving to Brighton.

Like her older brother, Cork senior Luke, Megan excelled in GAA with underage ladies football teams before focusing on soccer.
