Coláiste na Sceilge
(Kerry) 6-7

Coláiste Choilm
Ballincollig 0-10

COLÁISTE CHOILM came up against a formidable Kerry outfit in the Lidl Munster ladies football PPS senior B final at Mallow yesterday.

Goals were key for the Caherciveen side, scoring four in the opening 30 minutes which effectively put the game beyond the reach of the Ballincollig girls.

Any opportunity of green flags that did come their way were ably dealt with by goalkeeper Mary Ellen Bolger.

Trailing by nine points at the midway stage left them with too much to do.

Shannon O’Donnell, Cliona Murphy, Ava O’Sullivan. and Siofra O’Shea were the goal getters for Coláiste na Sceilge in the first half — three of these arrived in the opening quarter.

Coláiste Choilm responded as best they could with Claudia Keane, Meadbh Kelly, Cliona Rearden, and Rose Murphy keeping them in touch. However, they trailed by 4-3 to 0-6 at the break.

The Kerry school added further goals from O’Shea and Mary Beth O’Donoghue in the second half and while they were always on top, you couldn’t fault the Ballincollig team for effort.

But they needed greater efficiency in front of the posts, kicking almost four times as many wides as their opponents.

They were unfortunate too to lose their captain to a red card and had to play out the fourth quarter with 14 players after Julie Lankford was dismissed on 45 minutes.

Coláiste na Sceilge go on to meet St Nathy’s Ballaghaderreen from Roscommon in the All-Ireland semi-final on March 15.
