THERE are five changes on the Cork hurling team from the side that defeated Westmeath last weekend for Sunday’s crucial national league clash with Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, 2pm.
The status quo prevails between the posts and the full-back line with Patrick Collins again handed the number one jersey and Sean O’Leary-Hayes retaining his place at right corner-back.
There is a change at left half-back with Robert Downey coming in for the suspended Damien Cahalane, having featured in the number three spot in the first two league ties.
Mark Coleman returns as well, in midfield partnering Luke Meade to the exclusion of Chris O’Leary.
In the half-forward line, the injured Conor Lehane is replaced by Robbie O’Flynn who excelled in the victory over Tipperary while Darragh Fitzgibbon is named across from him with Seamus Harnedy on the 65. Aidan Walsh drops down to the subs bench.
Shane Kingston is handed the number 14 shirt with Deccie Dalton given another opportunity on the right and team captain Patrick Horgan at left full-forward. Jack O’Connor loses out here from last Sunday’s starting team against Westmeath. Alan Cadogan was not considered as he is carrying an injury.
Coleman, Fitzgibbon, O’Flynn and Kingston are returning after their excellent form for UCC in their Fitzgibbon Cup triumph while Downey, also a star on that team, came on as a late sub against Westmeath.
Anthony Nash returns on the substitutes bench after being rested recently while there is a place too for rising star Daire Connery from Na Piarsaigh, who lined out with UCC Freshers during the week.
