THE Camogie Association Volunteer and Media Awards recently took place where over 100 guests were in attendance in Croke Park to honour the various winners.

This is the 14th year of the awards which recognise the contributions of local and national press and volunteers in the promotion and development of camogie.

The Volunteer and Media Award winners were selected on the basis of their efforts in 2019 and they included Lorraine Looney, from the Cobh club, who was chosen as the Cork Volunteer of the year.

Lorraine Looney was a worthy recipient of the Cork volunteer award, in her 12th season as club secretary she is a huge part of the Cobh Camogie story.

In 2019 along with all her club jobs Loraine took on the role of co-coordinator for the club U8s and this is just one of many jobs she does for her beloved club.

Every Saturday to the end of October and every Sunday to the end of December from March, she opens and runs a club shop where everybody can buy their gear or just pop in for refreshments.
