NEMO Rangers ladies football club has enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years as they have captured successive league and championship titles.

Long-serving player Fiona O’Neill has played an integral role in their consecutive title-winning seasons. She is delighted with their recent success.

“It’s been such an amazing few years. We are undefeated in competitive games for two consecutive seasons. We have won back-to-back junior league and championship titles in the past two years.

"We also started a second adult team who have enjoyed great success. They won their league last year in only their first year playing competitively,” revealed the stalwart defender.

Fiona, who has represented her beloved Nemo Rangers in all the various grades up along with great distinction, is thrilled with the continued progress Nemo ladies club have made in recent years.

“I have come up through the club and playing for the junior team has been an amazing experience. The dynamics are constantly changing as younger players come up. It is great to get to play with so many different people. We have a fantastic management team.

"The club has made great progress. We went through a period of struggling with numbers and it’s amazing to see our progress since then. If you had told me a few years ago that we would be planning to field a second team, I would have struggled to believe you.

"Over the past few years, we have seen a fantastic increase in numbers due to the amazing interest among the minor players, as well as quite a few new additions.”

The successful Nemo Rangers adult football team have been complemented in recent years by an array of very talented young players who have similar to Fiona progressed through the various underage teams. Fiona is very pleased with the continued progress of their young players.

“We have a very broad array of ages on the team, from the dedicated senior players to the flying fit minors who impress us at every training session and in every match. We have a lot of talented young players coming through. Our coaches and management team are great. They put in so much time to make sure we don’t take our foot off the pedal.”

Fiona is looking forward to playing competitively once again with her Nemo Rangers team-mates in the coming weeks.

“I can’t wait. It’s been a long few months. I’m excited to get back playing with my team-mates once again. I’m a bit apprehensive also because so much keeps changing. It is hard to know how things will go. I am definitely looking forward to getting back on the pitch. We are all looking forward to the season resuming.”
