THE draw for the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup was made at Musgrave Park and certainly produced some mouth-watering ties.
Present at the draw was the President of the Munster Branch Sean McCullough and James Neville (Competitions Co-Ordinator).
The President thanked Bank of Ireland for sponsoring the competition yet again this season.
The draw which is seeded will see the nine clubs playing in Division 2A and 2B of the All Ireland League plus Kilfeacle & District playing in Round 1.
A draw was made to decide if Shannon or Highfield would play in the second round and the other club joining holders Cork Constitution, Garryowen, UCC or Young Munster in the quarter finals. Shannon came out of the hat and were included in the second round draw.
The tie of the round was the quarter final pairing of Young Munster v Cork Constitution a repeat of last year’s decider which the Temple Hill side won 24-17 at Musgrave Park.
Another intriguing quarter final clash will be the all Cork clash of UCC entertaining Highfield at the Mardyke.
In the opening round there is another exciting clash with Sunday’s Well hosting old rivals Midleton.
Dolphin were also favoured with a home draw as they entertain Old Crescent.
For the first time in many years a Junior club will be represented in the competition when Munster Junior League holders and All Ireland Junior Cup winners Kilfeacle will take part.
