Sarsfields 6-23 Glen Rovers 1-8

SARSFIELDS maintained their 100% record in the Premier 1 MHC after this emphatic win.

With both sides already qualified for the semi-finals it was a case of seeing who would be top of the group.

The results means that Sars will face Ballincollig in one semi-final and the Glen will face the Barrs in the other. It would be no great surprise to see these two meet again in the final but both have tough semis to get through first.

Sars won’t be fooled by this scoreline as they will be well aware that a number of Glen players didn’t start that normally do, including their captain Luke Horgan. Colm McCarthy opened the scoring for Sars, with Dylan Long equalising for the Glen

Two from Rory O’Brien put Sars back in front, with Flynn O’Brien pointing to make it 0-4 to 0-1 with 10 minutes gone. Long got Glen’s second, before Rory O’Brien got Sars first goal, quickly followed by a point from David Lynch to see them 1-6 to 0-2 in front.

Just after the water break Rory O’Brien got their second goal and from the re-start they regained possession with Ben Nodwell finding the back of the net, to make it 3-6 to 0-2.

O’Brien added two more before Lynch got Sars' fourth goal. In injury time Adam Lordan got the Glen’s first point from play before O’Brien rounded off the scoring to see Sars lead 4-10 to 0-4 at half-time.

Jake Bowen increased their lead with Long replying for the Glen. Two from O’Brien, along with a point from Nodwell extended their lead to 4-14 to 0-5 with 37 minutes gone. A minute later and Tomás Horgan pulled a goal back for the Glen with Long adding a point from a 65. Darragh Long got Sars' fifth goal with O’Brien adding their sixth as they ran out comprehensive winners.
