Barrs and Newcestown clash pushed due to Covid; new county final dates set

NEWCESTOWN face a busy few days after their Premier Senior Football Championship encounter with St Finbarr's was moved out to Wednesday week due to Covid testing.
The quarter-final was postponed at short notice on Sunday with the aim to play it this Tuesday. However, it has now been officially refixed for Wednesday, September 30 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
The West Cork club have a hurling semi-final against Fr O'Neill's this Sunday, leaving a short gap to the football tie.
If they do beat favourites the Barrs they'll be into a semi-final against Castlehaven the following Sunday, October 4.
The Ballincollig-Nemo PSFC quarter-final that was also postponed last Sunday, is now on September 27 in Páirc Uí Rinn. The winner of that tie, with champions Nemo fancied, will meet Duhallow a week later.
That means the county final is slated for October 11, which cuts into the Cork senior football panel's preparations for the refixed league game in the Páirc.
