Kilbrin 0-22 Banteer 3-11

A late scoring flourish was enough for Kilbrin to see off the stubborn challenge of Banteer in a thrilling E Tarrant and Sons Skoda Dealer Duhallow JAHC encounter at Castlemagner.

In their concluding group contest, Kilbrin enjoyed their third consecutive victory to secure a passage to the divisional final for the second consecutive season.

Kilbrin held their composure with a run of points as Banteer required a win here and battled bravely.

Though Kilbrin opened brightly with a brace of Shane Crowley points, Banteer held an eagerness to their game once Conor O'Keeffe booted home a goal. That allowed Banteer to shade the play through the solid efforts of Martin Kearney, Conor Murphy, Richard O'Connor and Kevin Tarrant with Luke Philpott on target from placed balls to secure a narrow 1-5 to 0-7 advantage at the break.

It remained closely contested on the restart, Kilbrin availing of pointed frees from Stephen O'Reilly to nudge ahead. However, Banteer were back in business, their gritty efforts rewarded, Brian O'Keeffe won possession to find the corner of the net.

Kilbrin rallied, spurred on from the work-rate of Michael Buckley, Garreth Linehan, William Heffernan, Crowley and Eoin Sheahan. And Kilbrin might well have goaled, Daniel O'Sullivan was denied by a superb save from Banteer keeper Kevin Roche with O'Reilly pointing the resultant '65.

Banteer had a facility to open up the opposing defence, a third goal arrived from a Tarrant blaster. And follow up points to Cathal O'Donoughue and Philpott left Banteer nicely positioned to lead by three.

However Killbrin failed to panic as O'Reilly landed four points

Banteer answered through Philpott to level yet Kilbrin had more in the tank, O'Reilly and Crowley splitting the uprights for the insurance scores to progress to the decider against Dromtariffe.
