Joey Carbery is on the bench as Munster name the team to face Leinster

MUNSTER coach Johann van Graan has made seven changes to the side that beat Connacht for this evening’s Old Firm PRO14 clash with Leinster at a sold-out Thomond Park, 6pm.

The biggest news from a Munster point of view is that Joey Carbery is on the bench and likely to be introduced for his first appearance of the season for Munster having recovered from the ankle injury picked up while on duty for Ireland.

Van Graan has also been able to recall Rory Scannell and Mike Haley after their stint in Ireland camp last weekend and has combined experience with youth on his bench as he has three Academy players there in Diarmuid Barron, Keynan Knox and Scannell’s cousin Jack O’Sullivan.

Scannell, Haley, Sammy Arnold, Nick McCarthy, Fineen Wycherley, Tommy O’Donnell and Jack O’Donoghue all in this evening’s big clash.

Haley starts at full-back with Dan Goggin and Shane Daly named on either flank. Goggin, who has previously played on the wing as a replacement, starts as a winger for the province for the first time and he will be in for a testing time from the unbeaten Blues.

Scannell and Arnold pair up in the centres with McCarthy and JJ Hanrahan, Man of the Match last week, in the half-backs.

Kevin O’Byrne’s consistency has been rewarded with another start between Dave Kilcoyne and Stephen Archer in an unchanged front row.

Wycherley and Billy Holland, who captains the side, start in the engine room with O’Donnell, Chris Cloete and O’Donoghue completing the side.
