Cobh boss Henderson admits he may have to leave the club he loves

COBH RAMBLERS manager Stephen Henderson has admitted that he is considering his future at the club.

In an astonishing post-match press conference at St Colman’s Park after the defeat to Longford Town on Saturday night, Henderson cited a lack of professional standards and lack of progress on the back of recent years among his chief concerns.

“I will be definitely sitting down with the committee over the weekend and I will make a decision on my own.

“We are here two or three years and we want the club to progress. I don’t think we are.

“If we have standards, we have to build those standards, and I don’t think we are moving forward the way we’d like to move forward.

“I am not going to use amateur status as an excuse.

“I come in here and put my heart and soul into this, as have a few people.

“But we need to drive the club forward. When I say drive the club forward, there has to be certain stuff in place off the pitch.

“We haven’t got a kit man. I was hanging up the gear last week — this kind of stuff is nonsense.

“This is not what we come in for, this is the stuff we try to eradicate and bring a bit of professionalism into it.

“All that stuff is starting to take its toll on me, and I have to see if this is affecting me and how I can contribute to the players.

“So I will sit down with the committee and have a good chat about it.

“If it’s not to be it’s not to be, I’ll be gutted.

“If I feel it is the best for me to go away from the club, then I will go away.”
