Cork court hears allegations that man had 320 images and 69 videos of child sexual abuse material

A total of 320 images and 69 videos of child abuse material were allegedly found on an electrical device at the home of a 39-year-old man last August.
That is the allegation made at an in-camera (private) hearing of Cork District Court during which Judge Miriam Walsh said there were reporting restrictions on the case.
The 39-year-old is charged on a single count stating that on August 24 2025 at an address in Cork he did knowingly have in his possession child pornography, namely child abuse material consisting of 320 images and 69 videos stored in an electronic device seized at his home.
Detective Garda Eimear Brennan charged the defendant with that count.
Sergeant Aisling Murphy said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, or that he could enter a signed plea of guilty at Cork District Court for sentencing at the circuit court.
Sgt Murphy said there was no objection to bail, provided that the accused complied with certain conditions, including that he reside at his home address, notify Det Garda Brennan of any change of address, sign weekly at his local garda station and notify gardaí of any plans to leave the jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned until July 21 for a copy of the prosecution evidence to be supplied to the defence so that a decision can be made on whether a plea of guilty or not guilty will be entered.
