Fourth class student at Bunscoil Chríost Rí, Uliana Kolisnyk, has been announced as the overall winner of Cork City Council’s anti-dog-fouling schools poster competition.
Miss Kolisnyk, who is nine years old, was among 1,000 school children in Cork who entered the competition, and was selected for her creative reminder to dog owners that: “There is no such thing as a poop fairy – clean up after your dog!”.
The poster competition came after the launch of the local authority’s campaign which is aimed at encouraging better practice among dog owners throughout the city.
Following the launch of the campaign, almost 30,000 poo bags were made available to members of the public, which can be collected from Cork City Hall on weekdays between 10am and 4pm.
As part of the campaign, Miss Kolisnyk’s poster was displayed outside her school at Turner’s Cross to further discourage dog fouling in the area.
