Fire crews move fast to contain blaze at Cork hospital

A small fire at the Mercy Hospital has now been brought under control. 

Update 9:15pm - A contained fire at the Mercy Hospital in Cork city centre has now been brought under control. 

It is understood that the incident occurred after a shower curtain caught fire.

Earlier - Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire at the Mercy Hospital.

Four units from Cork City Fire Service, three from Anglesea Street and one from Ballyvolane, are currently at the scene of the incident at Grenville Place in the city centre.

The alarm was raised at approximately 8:30pm.
