EMERGENCY services remain at the scene of a gorse fire in the Cobh area.
Cllr Sinead Sheppard said that the fire appears to be under control.
Cllr Sheppard commended the Fire Services for their efforts.
“The Fire Services have done a super job because it is quite hard to access, it’s up a very steep hill but they managed to get two fire trucks up there.
“They’re all still there now working on it, but they have it completely under control," she added.
Members of the public have been asked to avoid Ticknock Hill in Cobh as Fire Services continue to deal with a gorse fire.
Fire units from Midleton and Cobh are currently at the scene.
Cork County Council has asked the public to avoid the area while the Fire Service work to bring the fire under control.

Fire Services were alerted to the fire in the Ticknock at 12:50 pm.
They remain at the scene.
