GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses and information from the public as part of their investigation into the murder of Nicola Collins in Farranree last night.
The body the 38-year-old, a mother of three, was discovered early this morning at a home on Popham’s Road in Faranree.
Gardaí launched a murder investigation this afternoon following a post mortem.
A 42-year-old man, originally from Charleville has been arrested in connection with the woman's death.
The body was found at around 3am and the man was arrested at the scene.
The incident happened in a flat above a local shop.
The man is being questioned at Mayfield Garda Station.
An incident room has been established at Mayfield Garda Station and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in this case.

Cork City Councillor Kenneth Collins, who lives near the flat where the incident occurred, said the community of Farranree is shocked by the news.
“Everyone in the area was shocked by the news when we heard it this morning. Something like this does not happen in Farranree,” the Sinn Féin councillor said.
“The area is very tight and everyone knows everyone else, so for an incident like this to happen here is very sad.”
