FIFTEEN new jobs have been created at Brass Monkey - Cork’s newest local bar on Douglas Street.

The 2,750 square feet premises opened yesterday and features a monkey-themed bar and smoking area.

Manager Paul McCarthy said they have heavily invested in the project.

“We want people to feel like they have a new local in the heart of Cork City. Our vision for Brass Monkey is somewhere that’s cool and casual, with an added dash of personality from our wonderful staff, as well as a place where you can have a good bite to eat, a bit of banter and great nights out," said Paul.

Paul has worked in New York for 16 years and Miami for ten years, working in the bar and restaurant trade. He also received the New York State Bar Tender Award in 2004, beating out 2,500 other professionals in the trade.

The official launch party will take place on Friday next when DJ Aoife O’Neill will be performing.
