A man in his 40’s has been arrested by Gardaí investigating the murder of Nicola Collins.
Nicola, a 38-year-old mother of three, died following injuries sustained in an assault on Monday, March 27 at Popham's Road.
The man is currently detained at Mayfield Garda Station under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, which allows the Gardaí to hold him for up to 24 hours.
This is the third arrest made in association with the investigation.
Ms Collins, who was originally from Kerry, was found by emergency services at a flat above a convenience store on Popham’s Road at around 3.30am on Monday 27 March.
The alarm was raised by a man living in the flat, where Ms Collins was visiting.
Gardaí initially arrested a 42 year-old-man for questioning about an assault causing harm to Ms Collins before releasing him without charge.
A second man, arrested in Limerick, was also questioned about withholding information.
Both of these individuals were released without charge and file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
