The N71 Bandon Road between the N71/Ballinhassig interchange and Junction 3 on the N40 South Ring Road (Bandon Road Roundabout) will be closed completely on the weekends of August 11 and August 18.

The road closure is expected to cause significant disruption but is required to carry out heavy excavation works to install a drainage culvert near the Chetwynd Viaduct.

On each weekend the road will close on Friday at 8pm and will reopen at 6am on the Monday morning.

Works will be on going 24 hours per day during these times.

Motorists will be requested to follow the Diversion routes which will be sign posted.

Vehicles coming from the west will divert off the N71 to the R613 through Ballinhassig to the R600 at the Fivemile. Left onto Kinsale Road on the R600 and on to Junction 6 – N40 South Ring Road (Kinsale Road roundabout) via the Airport roundabout.

Traffic from the north will divert in the opposite direction using the Kinsale Road Roundabout, travelling via the airport road on the N27 to the Fivemile and then turning right onto the R613. Through Ballinhassig to the R613 junction with the N71. Slip onto the N71.
