POPULAR pop-rock duo ‘Picture This’ played a sell-out secret gig last night in the Crane Lane.
Large queues formed outside the city venue from 5pm in the hope of getting one of the limited tickets in to see Athy men, Jimmy Rainsford and Ryan Hennessy, do what they do best.
Ryan, who plays guitar and sings the lead vocals, said Cork is a massive hub for them.
“Cork has always been important to us. Our first ever gig was here in the Crane Lane, I’ll never forget that there was such a good atmosphere in here. It was on our first ever Irish tour and then we went on to play the Cork Opera House and two Marquees.
“We have a lot of fans down here, it means a lot to us and we wanted to give back.” Speaking about the Cork crowds they have played to Ryan said they are absolutely mad.“We have a lot of fans down here, it means a lot to us and we wanted to give back.” Speaking about the Cork crowds they have played to Ryan said they are absolutely mad.
“They really show their love for it, it’s like playing at a football match. A lot of places are like that, but Cork just has that bit extra madness.” Looking back at their varied appearances across the Rebel County, the lads said playing Live At The Marquee was an unforgettable experience for them both.
“Live at the Marquee was a turning point for me, Jimmy said, it just hit me, the band is actually going somewhere.” Ryan said it was one of his favourite gigs.
“I’ll never forget the feeling of the first night, walking out the first night and the roar from the crowd, just the energy it just knocked you back straight away. It was mental, definitely one of my favourite gigs.” Adapting to their new lifestyle of touring and performing, Ryan said you forget how much you need to sleep!
“You have to look after yourself and know your capabilities.” But the boys said that they enjoy the ebb and flow lifestyle of roaming musicians.
