Two men assaulted in Ballincollig

WITNESSES to an assault in Ballincollig have been asked to come forward after two men in their 30s were attacked at 2.45am Sunday morning.

The incident occurred on Station Road on Sunday, June 25.

Following the assault, both victims needed medical attention at CUH, although their injuries were not described as life-threatening.

Local Fine Gael councillor Derry Canty said the assault in the area came as a shock.

“Ballincollig is a place to live, we never have anything serious here.

“We are a settled community, we never have any problems.

“The Gardaí will deal with this.” Acting Superintendent Gary McPolin said public order offences such as this will be dealt with swiftly and also called on anyone who might have seen anything to come forward.

“We ask anyone who may have seen or heard something to approach the Gardai with their information.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Gurranbraher Garda station on 021-4946200 r any Garda station.
