Cork duo to lead around world sailing initiative
Steward Hosford, CEO of Ireland Ocean Racing with Nin O'Leary, Irish sailor who is going to take on the world's greatest challenge, the Vendée Globe, A 25,000 mile, single handed, unassisted and non-stop race around the world.

A CORK duo will lead a new sailing initiative which will see Ireland represented internationally at competitions in offshore yacht racing and sailing.

The strategy, Ireland Ocean Racing, aims to increase the profile of competitive Irish ocean sailing and racing and deliver future champions in this incredible sport.

It involves the launch of a new yacht racing team , skippered by leading Cork sailor, Nin O’Leary, who is aiming to compete at the highest level in 020 Vendée Globe event - the world’s only solo, non-stop and unassisted around the world sailing race. 

Mr O’Leary aims to be the first Irish sailor to complete this incredible sporting challenge.

Ireland Ocean Racing CEO, Corkman Stewart Hosford said, “This is an exciting day for Irish offshore sailing. We have many great achievements on the water already under our belts. Now is the time to pull together and create a focused plan to pave the way for some significant initiatives and achievements over the coming 10 years and beyond”.
